PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and the Portland Trail Blazers handed the Orlando Magic their ninth straight loss with a 125-119, overtime victory last night. Wesley Matthews finished with 24 points, including a dunk that all but sealed it with less than a minute to go in overtime, and J.J. Hickson added 20 points and 15 rebounds for his 20th double-double this season. J.J. Redick led the Magic with 29 points, while Arron Afflalo had 24.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks solving 29 years of road futility in the playoffs came with a downside. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Monday that defensive end Chris Clemons suffered a torn ACL and torn meniscus in his left knee and will be lost for the rest of the playoffs. Clemons was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s 24-14 win over Washington, the Seahawks’ first postseason road win since Dec. 31, 1983. Clemons was hurt when it appeared his cleat got stuck in the turf at FedEx Field.

UNDATED (AP) – Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens says he’s obviously “ecstatic” that head football coach Chip Kelly has decided to stay with the Ducks. Kelly was at a coaches’ convention in Tennessee yesterday. It was an anticlimactic end to the whirlwind that started soon after Oregon’s 35-17 Fiesta Bowl victory over Kansas State on Thursday night. Kelly was peppered with questions about whether he would entertain NFL offers in the days leading up to the bowl game and immediately after it.

TOKYO (AP) – Former All-Star infielder Jose Lopez is headed to Japan. He has signed with the Yomiuri Giants of the Central League, the country’s most popular team and winner of the 2012 Japan Series. According to Nikkan Sports, he agreed to a one-year deal worth $911,000. The 29-year-old Lopez has spent nine seasons in the majors and was an All-Star with Seattle in 2006. Lopez played in 15 games last season for Chicago, spending most of the season in the International League.
