ONTARIO, Ore. (AP) – Authorities in Eastern Oregon have identified two men severely injured in the explosion of a homemade bomb on Sunday. The Ontario Argus Observer reports they are 59-year-old Mark Brinton and 60-year-old Drex Brooks. Brinton was reported in critical condition at a Boise, Idaho, hospital. Brooks was in serious condition at a Portland hospital. Authorities say the explosive devices included parts from plastic pipe, garden hose and cardboard tubes.

SUTHERLIN, Ore. (AP) – Sutherlin police say one of their officers is on administrative leave after firing at – and missing – an Oakland man during a domestic disturbance call. The Roseburg News-Review reports that another officer used a stun gun to subdue the Oakland man Monday. The man was taken into custody pending a mental evaluation. Police say the officers were dispatched to a residence after a reported fight between a man and a woman in a home with children present. The officer fired after the man made statements indicating he had a handgun, refused commands to show his hands and made what police described as “furtive movements.”

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Police in the east Portland suburb of Gresham say a grocery store was evacuated yesterday after a man robbed a bank branch inside the store and left behind a bag that he said contained a bomb. Gresham Detective John Rasmussen says a bomb squad determined there was no threat at the Fred Meyer store. The Oregonian reports that a man described as appearing to be in his 70s gave a Chase Bank teller a note demanding cash and said he had a handgun and a bomb.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police in northeast Oregon say a woman is dead after her SUV apparently ran over her. Lt. Greg Sherman says police responded last night to a call for medical help. The caller said a woman was trapped underneath a vehicle near Exit 193 off Interstate 84. The East Oregonian reports that state police and local fire department responders arrived to find the woman dead. The Dodge Durango had no apparent damage. Police say no one else was involved.
