Baseball Playoffs

The Hidden Valley Mustangs eliminated Siuslaw Vikings from the 4A baseball playoffs yesterday with a one-nothing defensive struggle in Grants Pass.  The Vikings were unable to get much offense going, managing only three hits on the day.  Jake Thompson took the loss, scattering four hits over seven innings and striking out ten.  Siuslaw ended the season as Far West League Champions with a 12-3 conference record… 17-7 overall.

There are no Far West Teams remaining in the playoffs… North Bend lost to Ontario 3-2; South Umpqua fell to Henley 9-6.  The Hornets will host Hidden Valley in the quarterfinal round of playoff action this weekend.

Track and Field Finals

The State Track and Field Finals get underway today at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene for 1A schools.  One Mapleton Sailor will be competing… Madison Frelich qualified for the girls’ long jump.  15 Siuslaw Vikings will be at the meet when 4A competition begins tomorrow.
