ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Adrian Beltre homered twice and the Texas Rangers used a four-run seventh inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 5-4 last night. With Texas trailing 3-1, Beltre led off the seventh with a drive to center against Hisashi Iwakuma. A.J. Pierzynski then singled and Lance Berkman walked before Mitch Moreland bounced a tying single up the middle against Charlie Furbush.

UNDATED (AP) – People familiar with the trade say Sacramento, New Orleans and Portland have agreed to a three-team deal sending guard Tyreke Evans to the Pelicans, center Robin Lopez to the Trail Blazers and guard Greivis Vasquez to the Kings. Sources who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity yesterday say Portland is sending second-round draft pick Jeff Withey to New Orleans. The deal, first reported by ESPN, also calls for Portland to send a future draft pick to Sacramento.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Dan Kennedy earned his first shutout of the season helping Chivas USA to a scoreless draw with FC Dallas last night. Chivas extended its winless streak to 12, while Dallas has gone five straight without a victory. There were plenty of chances for both teams, though neither could take advantage.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – When he jumps aboard his high-performance catamaran, America’s Cup champion skipper Jimmy Spithill is wearing his game face as well as equipment that can help save his life. After Artemis Racing’s Andrew Simpson was killed in a capsize on May 9, sailors have started wearing body armor, an air tank and breathing tube, self-lowering equipment and underwater locator devices.
