GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A Grants Pass man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for child sex abuse. KTVL reports Norman Bruce Spencer was arrested in 2010 and Josephine County investigators discovered he had multiple aliases and felony convictions for child molestation over three decades in California, Idaho and Florida. Investigators also found he failed to register as a sexual offender.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Multnomah County Board Chairman Jeff Cogen has returned to work for the first time since he acknowledged last week that he had a long-term extramarital affair with a county Health Department employee. Cogen has denied helping Sonia Manhas win a promotion last year to the job of director of policy and planning.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Workers at Daimler Trucks North America’s plant in Portland say they’ve ended a strike that started July 1. The Swan Island plant employs 725 union workers and makes as many as 30 Western Star trucks a day. The Oregonian reports the unions had been striking over wages. Workers were expected to return to their shifts today.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A bill awaiting Gov. John Kitzhaber’s signature would reverse a two-year-old state law that ended up cutting the amount of money some counties get from traffic fines. Jackson County officials say that without the bill, they would be forced to close their justice court and disband their traffic squad. The new bill changes the way that counties and the state share traffic fines.
