SEATTLE (AP) – Hisashi Iwakuma allowed four hits in six shutout innings, and the Seattle Mariners scored six runs in the second en route to an 8-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins last night. Iwakuma, who won his third straight decision, struck out nine and walked one. Nick Franklin hit a three-run home run in the Mariners’ big second inning. Dustin Ackley had three hits.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Tina Thompson scored 23 points to lead the Seattle Storm to a 73-66 win over the Los Angeles Sparks yesterday. Thompson, selected to a record ninth All-Star game as a replacement for injured Brittney Griner, also had eight rebounds and Tanisha Wright added 15 points as the Storm snapped a seven-game losing streak to Los Angeles.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – It didn’t take long for the Seattle Seahawks to face a potential injury problem. Newly acquired wide receiver Percy Harvin has a hip injury that landed him on the physically unable to perform list when Seahawks training camp began yesterday. Seattle coach Pete Carroll says the injury is in the area of Harvin’s labrum and the severity hasn’t been determined.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Washington coach Steve Sarkisian says tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and wide receiver Kasen Williams, both of whom had run-ins with the law during the offseason, will be allowed to participate when preseason practice starts next month. Seferian-Jenkins pleaded guilty earlier this month to a DUI charge and is due to serve a day in jail on July 31.
