PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland Mayor Charlie Hales says the city will continue to enforce the law against overnight camping on public property. He told reporters yesterday at City Hall that the campaign to clear downtown sidewalks and parks will continue. There were five arrests Wednesday. Hales says the anti-camping crackdown is about lawlessness, not homelessness.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A 59-year-old man is dead after the semi-truck he was repairing in Salem ran over him. Police found Gary Coleman dead at Coleman’s Transport. The Statesman Journal reports he tried to start the engine while reaching into the cab. The truck was in gear and began rolling forward. Coleman fell and was run over.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Shifting winds forced a new Eastern Oregon wildfire to change course last night and head toward the town of John Day. Fire crews worked through the night with bulldozers, engines and ground crews to establish fire lines on the Grouse Mountain Fire. The fire was one of a number of fires that started Wednesday in Grant County.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Work crews have found the charred remains of a 36-year-old man in an abandoned Lyons plywood mill. Autopsy results show Dustin Harris died of electrocution while trying to steal copper wire from an electrical panel board at the mill, which is owned by Hood Lumber.
