BEND, Ore. (AP) – Central Oregon long-term facilities have one of the highest rates of prescription drug theft in the state. The Bend Bulletin reports that with 15.8 cases of medication theft per 1,000 beds/units in a long-term care facility, Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties have the second-highest rate in the state since 2009. Grant, Harney and Malheur counties have the highest rate with 16.2 theft cases per 1,000 beds/units.

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon regulators have proposed a fine of nearly $80,000 and clean-up deadline for a Coos Bay company as a result of a landslide last year that dumped an estimated 200 to 300 dump-truck loads of soil, mud and trees into a slough. The Eugene Register-Guard reports that Johnson Rock Products contests the action. The company says the fill it placed on a hillside home construction project met industry standards and held for eight months, until the entire slope failed in heavy rain.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The Lane County Board of Commissioners tomorrow will consider a staff recommendation that they maintain direct control over the cash-strapped Lane Events Center, commonly referred to as the county fairgrounds. The events center relies on a public subsidy – revenues from a county room tax assessed with on hotel visitors – to break even.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County Sheriff’s office says two motels in Wilsonville were robbed over the weekend, but the incidents don’t appear connected. The Oregonian reports that on Saturday a Super 8 motel was robbed by a white man believed to be 35-40 years old. He was armed with a handgun. On Friday, La Quinta Inn was also robbed by a man who reportedly used a gun. The man robbed two female employees, tying them up and taking money from their purses and the motel.
