PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s health insurance exchange has had no shortage of challenges. Cover Oregon will have to be self-sufficient once the federal grants that are paying its bills run dry at the end of next year, but the organization is projecting higher costs and lower revenue. It has dialed back enrollment projections and increased spending on technology which could mean higher costs for consumers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber appears ready to announce he will run for a fourth term. In a news release sent yesterday from “John Kitzhaber for Governor 2014,” he said he would be holding a news conference today to talk about his plans for the coming year. A call to a campaign spokeswoman was not immediately returned yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The new head of the Oregon lottery says he was trying to get the governor to appoint him to a position on the state Court of Appeals. But the governor started talking about the lottery. Jack Roberts told The Oregonian he thinks he can help improve the state lottery, but he wasn’t hired to shake up the agency.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland police car was hit Saturday night as the driver of a stolen car tried to flee. The Oregonian reports the driver backed into a patrol car, then hit another vehicle and was trying to drive over the curb when it got stuck. Police found the man, who was hiding on the roof of an apartment complex.
