MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police in Medford say they’ve made one arrest in the case of two men observed on surveillance video trying to fish deposits out of bank overnight drop boxes. The Mail Tribune reports Ryan Kullrich of Bakersfield, Calif., was arrested and the other man is being sought. Police report similar thefts and theft attempts in the area. KDRV reports the men were using a fishing line and other devices to pull bank deposits from the boxes.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland’s police chief was helping out on patrol when he came across a dog that apparently started having convulsions after eating marijuana brownies. Chief Mike Reese and his partner transported the dog and his homeless owner to an animal hospital Monday night, where a veterinarian told the Oregonian that dogs overdosing on marijuana show up frequently in the emergency room.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police believe a shooting in Salem last night was gang-related. A 21-year-old man walking down a street when a car pulled up, a man got out and exchanged a few words with the victim and then fired multiple shots. The victim was wounded in an arm. He was treated at Salem Hospital. The suspect drove off.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman was struck by a vehicle and injured last night on a southwest Portland street. Police say the 31-year-old was taken to a hospital with traumatic injuries. The driver is a 64-year-old woman who remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators.
