PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have identified a man killed in a Christmas Eve domestic disturbance as 61-year-old Terry Lee Rolin. A police spokesman says the state medical examiner performed an autopsy yesterday and confirmed that Rolin died of a gunshot wound. No arrests have been made in the shooting that happened in the Foster-Powell neighborhood of southeast Portland.
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Washington County deputies say a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend’s ex-husband with a knife during a Christmas party in Aloha will appear in court today. Authorities say 31-year-old Diubel Navarro-Gonzalez faces charges of felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon. They say the 40-year-old victim is in stable condition after suffering “multiple upper body injuries.”
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal criminal complaint has been filed against a Vancouver, Wash., man accused of dealing the heroin that led to the death of a suburban Portland woman. Washington County jail records show 35-year-old Raul Ramirez was booked into jail this week on a parole violation. His alleged dealing is tied to last week’s heroin overdose death of 43-year-old Michelle Lee Conklin.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Regulators have banned backyard burning in rural Lane County because of a cold-air stagnation that has settled over the Willamette Valley. The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency says the ban will likely remain in effect through early next week. The Register-Guard reported yesterday the National Weather Service says a high-pressure system could create an inversion that traps pollutants from woodstoves and other sources.
