PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police in Portland are issuing their New Year’s Eve warning against – celebratory gunfire in city neighborhoods. Police say officers last year responded to 16 calls regarding reports of someone firing a gun on New Year’s Eve. Firing a gun within the city limits is illegal.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – News that Alaska has been chosen as a test site for the integration of drones into U.S. airspace is being welcomed by state political leaders. The University of Alaska was among six test-site operators chosen by the FAA for the work. Its proposal includes test site locations in Hawaii and Oregon.

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police in Lincoln City say their search has been called off for a shrimp fisherman missing on Siletz Bay on the Oregon coast. Sgt. Brian Eskridge says a jacket believed to belong to 56-year-old Brian Andrew Martin of Salem was recovered from the water. The officer says Martin may have drowned in the incoming tide.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Quarterback Marcus Mariota had 386 total yards and No. 10 Oregon returned two interceptions for touchdowns, spoiling Texas coach Mack Brown’s farewell with a runaway 30-7 victory in the Alamo Bowl last night. The Ducks dominated throughout even though their high-powered offense scored just one touchdown. The blowout was a final reminder of why Brown is resigning after 16 seasons at Texas.
