Prep Basketball Results
On the court in Florence last night… the Siuslaw Viking boys picked up their first Far West League win of the season 53- 37 over the Douglas Trojans. Sam Johnson was six of six at the free throw line in the fourth quarter and had 13 points; John Dodson had 12 and Nick McKenzie with his first start picked up nine. Siuslaw is back on the court at home tomorrow at home against number one ranked Brookings. In other league results Sutherlin downed South Umpqua 65 – 45 last night; North Bend edged Marshfield 47 – 44.
The Viking Girls lost a heartbreaker at home to the Trojans. Douglas’ Katherine Miller sank an acrobatic shot with 2.1 seconds to make the final score 46-45. Ashlee Cole led all scoring with 23 points and ten rebounds. Mikaela Siegel had four points and ten rebounds. In other Far West results undefeated Sutherlin demolished South Umpqua 69 -25 and Marshfield downed North Bend 42- 19.
On the schedule
The Mapleton Sailors will be in Marcola tonight where they’ll face the Mohawk Indians in Mountain West League basketball. The boys open up the action at 5:30… the girls immediately following.
