EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Travis Wear’s putback with 5.3 seconds to go gave UCLA a 70-68 victory over slumping Oregon last night. Jordan Adams finished with 19 points for UCLA (17-4, 6-2 Pac-12), which has won five of its last six games to sit at second in the league’s standings behind top-ranked Arizona. Joseph Young had 25 points for Oregon.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Roberto Nelson scored four of his 24 points in overtime, including the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds remaining, to lift Oregon State past USC 76-75 last night. Angus Brandt finished with 14 points and Eric Moreland grabbed 10 rebounds and four blocked shots for the Beavers. Byron Wesley led USC with 23 points.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Gary Winston finished with 19 points and six assists and Portland State beat Northern Colorado 80-57 last night. Winston scored the final five points in a 14-4 run by Portland State to open the game. Connor Osborne pulled Northern Colorado within nine, 28-17, with 5:34 left in the first half but Winston knocked down a 3-pointer to spark a 15-5 run to close out the period.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Shelby Cheslek led a balanced attack and No. 22 Gonzaga used its defense to smother Santa Clara 89-37 yesterday. The Bulldogs won their ninth straight game and have not allowed more than 50 points in improving to 11-0 at McCarthey Athletic Center. Santa Clara is the fourth team the Zags have held to less than 40 points.
