EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have won their first Super Bowl title, crushing the favored Denver Broncos 43-8. Linebacker Malcolm Smith returned an interception of Peyton Manning 69 yards for a touchdown late in the first half yesterday. Second-year quarterback Russell Wilson was coolly efficient for the Seahawks, throwing for two touchdowns.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Freshman Hallice Cooke scored 14 of his season-high 20 points in the second half and scored the go-ahead basket with 6:12 to play as Oregon State defeated UCLA 71-67 yesterday. Eric Moreland finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Angus Brandt added 13 points for the Beavers (13-8, 5-4 Pac-12). Kyle Anderson led the Bruins (17-5, 6-3) with 18 points and nine rebounds.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Joy Burke had 22 points and 15 rebounds and Promise Amukamara scored 21 as No. 15 Arizona State held off Oregon 97-94 yesterday. Oregon closed to within 94-92 on Danielle Love’s free throws with 15 seconds left. Freshman Chrishae Rowe scored 39 points to lead the Ducks (12-9, 3-7) but committed eight turnovers.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – Sydney Wiese made three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points as Oregon State beat Arizona 64-50 yesterday. Deven Hunter added 12 and Gabriella Hanson had 11 for Oregon State (13-9, 5-5 Pac-12). The Beavers made 7 of 19 shots from long range, while Arizona missed its only attempt. Ali Gibson grabbed a season-high eight rebounds and Wiese had three assists to give her 93 on the year.
