CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a Corvallis SUV driver who was ejected and killed in a collision on Highway 20 was not wearing a seatbelt. Police say the SUV was rear-ended Wednesday night and spun into a ditch. The 29-year-old driver was thrown out and died at the scene. The other driver was not injured.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a pickup truck driver trying to steer safely around three people on the shoulder of a highway near Lowell fatally struck a 15-year-old girl last night. The driver immediately stopped and provided first aid until medics arrived and is cooperating with investigators. The girl was not immediately identified.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Corrections Department says a 31-year-old inmate at a state prison in Umatilla has died unexpectedly. The Corrections Department says inmate Damion Banks was taken by ambulance late Tuesday night from the prison to a hospital. He was pronounced dead yesterday. It’s the second death of an inmate at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in nine days.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Nordstrom says it is closing its stores in the Lloyd Center mall in Portland, Ore., and the Westfield Vancouver mall in Vancouver, Wash. The Oregonian reports that the closures expected next January will affect about 220 workers at Lloyd Center and 164 at Westfield Vancouver. The company says it will try to place employees at other stores in the area.
