WASHINGTON (AP) – House Republicans intent on highlighting the woes of President Barack Obama’s health care law need to look no further than their own back yards – some of which are traditionally liberal strongholds. In Oregon, the online portal has struggled to sign up a single individual, and Republican Rep. Greg Walden recently sent a letter to federal officials pressing for an inquiry. Officials insist they are working to fix the problems.

EAST HELENA, Mont. (AP) – A Montana State University student from Oregon has been killed in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 12 near East Helena. Authorities tell the Independent Record that 22-year-old Carolyn Thompson of Eugene died at the scene of the crash yesterday afternoon. Four people were injured.

BOARDMAN, Ore. (AP) – The Morrow County sheriff’s office says nine people were injured in a collision near Boardman early yesterday between a car and a worker transport van. Deputies issued a ticket to the driver of the worker transport van belonging to Atkinson Staffing of Hermiston. It failed to stop at an intersection and was hit broadside by the car.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Damian Lillard had 32 points and the short-handed Portland Trail Blazers rallied to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-97 last night. Thomas Robinson had 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for Portland, which won its second straight after a three-game slump. The Blazers’ All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge missed his third straight game with a groin injury.
