Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities initially thought medical issues caused the March 10 death of a man at his home in Portland. But an autopsy by the Oregon state medical examiner’s office determined that Eugene Bigboy had been killed. Police say they arrested his nephew, Matthew Galen Bigboy, yesterday in Bigboy’s death. He was jailed on a murder charge.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene Police Chief Pete Kerns says an officer shouldn’t have cursed at an off-duty state trooper who was ejected from a University of Oregon football game. But Kerns has ruled that Officer Jed McGuire otherwise followed department policies while taking the trooper into custody. Trooper Marc Boyd filed a misconduct complaint after an incident that unfolded in the stands during the Washington State game in October.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Noted stem cell researcher Ann Kiessling will give the commencement address at Oregon State University’s graduation ceremony in June. The Baker City native earned a doctorate in biochemistry and biophysics from Oregon State in 1971. In the early 1990s, she pioneered reproductive options for couples living with the HIV disease and hepatitis C.

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (AP) — Last season the Oregon Ducks won the Pac-12 tournament to make the NCAA tournament. This year it wasn’t quite as easy. After slumping to start conference play, the Ducks finished the regular season with seven straight wins, including a 64-57 victory over Arizona in the finale. They head to Milwaukee to face BYU on Thursday.
