NORTH PLAINS, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a 31-year-old man whose body was found in a burned-out North Plains farmhouse after a standoff with Washington County deputies died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Oregonian reports sheriff’s officials said Brian Roy Olson was accused of shooting his girlfriend’s adult son with a rifle earlier Wednesday. The injured man was hospitalized in critical condition.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A wandering wolf whose trek across Oregon and Northern California attracted worldwide attention could soon fade from the public spotlight. The Global Positioning System collar that has sent regular electronic pulses to reveal OR-7’s travels for the past three years has eclipsed its normal life span, and state and federal biologists don’t plan to replace it.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The most expensive artwork ever sold at auction will soon be leaving the Portland Art Museum. The Oregonian reports that Sunday April 6 is the last day to view “Three Studies of Lucian Freud” – a three-paneled painting created by Francis Bacon in 1969. An anonymous collector – later revealed to be Elaine Wynn – paid more than $142 million for the triptych in November.

ATLANTA (AP) – LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 16 rebounds in his return from a back injury, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Atlanta Hawks 100-85 last night to end a three-game losing streak. The Blazers had lost seven of 10 and were in danger of falling out of the fifth spot in the Western Conference playoff standings.
