Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Alcides Escobar hit a grand slam and Johnny Giavotella added a three-run shot to give the Kansas City Royals a comeback 9-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners yesterday. Escobar had provided a 4-0 lead for the Royals in the second with his first career home run off starter Roenis Elias. But the Mariners rallied behind Dustin Ackley’s two homers and Kyle Seager’s one to take a 7-5 lead in the fifth.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The intensity and focus that has the Spurs rolling 3-0 over Portland in the Western Conference semifinals can be traced to their Game 3 loss to Dallas in the first round. Vince Carter hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer and the Mavericks went up 2-1. But San Antonio was not going to concede. Tonight the Spurs will try to dispatch the Blazers in four games.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) – Diego Fagundez scored two first-half goals and the New England Revolution routed the Seattle Sounders 5-0 yesterday. New England snapped a four-match winless slide against Seattle. The Sounders had their six-match unbeaten run ended, and the MLS’ No. 1 ranked offense was shut out for the first time this season.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Diego Valeri scored in the final minute of stoppage time to pull the Portland Timbers into a 1-1 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy yesterday. That came after Robbie Keane’s header two minutes into stoppage time appeared to give the Galaxy the win. Los Angeles peppered Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts all game, but couldn’t break through until Keane’s goal.
