Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) — A couple more sunny days with above-normal temperatures in the 70s and 80s are forecast for the Northwest, but the summer preview isn’t expected to last through the weekend. Forecasters say cloudy marine air will start to move in Friday, cooling things off on the west side of the Cascades. Above-normal temperatures are expected to last through Friday east of the Cascades.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The state Department of Justice says a former Eugene police officer is being investigated for Internet child crimes. The Register-Guard reports that Jeffrey Wade Argo resigned from the department last month, citing personal reasons.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A federal judge is preparing to hear arguments about whether a national group can defend Oregon’s ban on same-sex marriage because the state’s attorney general has refused to do so. The National Organization for Marriage is scheduled to make its case to U.S. District Judge Michael McShane today.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Employment Department says the state added about 15,000 jobs in March and April, the largest two-month increase since 2005. The department says Oregon is now adding jobs at a faster annual rate than the nation as a whole. Oregon’s unemployment rate remains at 6.9 percent.
