In 2003 he pleaded guilty to attempted rape.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A bank security guard came to the aid of a police officer who was knocked down in a fight with a transient in Bend. KTVZ reports the transient had been blocking traffic yesterday afternoon near a downtown intersection and fought with Officer Wes Murphy when he arrived. When Bank of America guard James Cornforth saw what was happening, he helped Murphy take the transient into custody.

ELMIRA, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a bicyclist was killed when he turned into the path of pickup truck pulling a horse trailer near Elmira in Lane County. The driver was unable to stop yesterday afternoon and struck him. The 57-year-old was taken to a hospital in Springfield where he died.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman is posting signs in her southeast Portland neighborhood that say, “Beware. Pet eating coyote. Keep your pets inside.” Trisha Bradford believes a coyote killed her beloved 15-year-old cat Maxwell. A neighbor found remains last week – a tail and part of a leg. Wildlife officials tell KATU pet owners should keep their animals inside at night and should not leave pet food outside.
