BEND, Ore. (AP) – Investigators say an early season wildfire on the outskirts of Bend, Oregon, was human-caused and a $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction. The fire threat is easing with more than 800 people assigned to fight the blaze. By last night, fire officials reported the Two Bulls fire was 25 percent contained.
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A Crook County sheriff’s officer says a 77-year-old central Oregon man who was hit by falling hay bales has died. Authorities say it appears that Gordon Stroebel of Prineville was loading hay onto his truck when the load shifted and three bales fell off, striking him. The sergeant says Stroebel died of his injuries at the scene.
ECHO, Ore. (AP) – The Umatilla County sheriff says a woman has been found dead near a camp trailer in northeast Oregon. Sheriff Terry Rowan says someone called to report that a 30-year-old man had told a friend he killed his girlfriend. A body was found after a search of the Echo property where the man had set up his trailer. The woman’s name was not immediately released.
BEND, Ore. (AP) – With a growing central Oregon wildfire bearing down on the site of their wedding, Michael Wolber and April Hartley said their “I do’s” – quickly. Wolber tells The Oregonian that an evacuation notice spurred he and his wife to exchange quick vows before guests piled into their cars and the reception relocated to a park in Bend.
