WEST LINN, Ore. (AP) – A fatal crash in Clackamas County has taken the life of a second teenager. Officials said the driver, Hayden Soyk, died at the scene Sunday. His girlfriend, Madison Higgins, was a passenger in the car. She was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. KATU reports an uncle told reporters last night at the hospital that she had “zero chance of recovery.”
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A North Eugene High School student who hit her head while skateboarding Saturday has died. The Register-Guard reports the family of 17-year-old Jarah Nicole Graham notified the school district with news of her death. Police say Graham was skateboarding with friends on the Interstate 5 footbridge near Gateway Mall when she crashed. She was not wearing a helmet.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Multnomah County Search and Rescue is looking for a woman missing on a hike in the Columbia River Gorge. The sheriff’s office says the woman in her early 20s went for a hike yesterday between Wahkeena Falls and Multnomah Falls. KATU reports her boyfriend reported her overdue about 3 a.m. today.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The campaign to put a genetically modified labeling initiative on the November ballot in Oregon has raised nearly $1 million. The Oregonian reports $591,000 of it has been spent with a signature-gathering firm.
