SEATTLE (AP) – Seattle will start Hisashi Iwakuma, Felix Hernandez and Young against the Angels when play resumes after the All-Star break, with Roenis Elias lined up to start against the New York Mets. Seattle is 51-44 at the All-Star break, among the best records in the American League. Manager Lloyd McClendon said taking two of three from Oakland, which has the top mark in the majors, was a great way to finish the first half.

NEW YORK (AP) – Clint Dempsey is one of eight players from the U.S. World Cup team who were voted to the MLS All-Star game. Last night, Major League Soccer announced the result of the fan vote. The game against Bayern Munich is scheduled for Aug. 6 in Portland, Oregon. DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Besler, Graham Zusi, Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando, Omar Gonzalez and Michael Bradley also represented the U.S. in Brazil. They were voted to the MLS team. Landon Donovan, who played for the United States in the previous three World Cups but was cut from this year’s team, also made the MLS list. Forwards Thierry Henry of the New York Red Bulls and Obafemi Martins of the Seattle Sounders round out the Fan XI.

DUPONT, Wash. (AP) – Eun Jeong Seong shot an 8-under-par 64 Tuesday to win medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Public Links Championship. The 14-year-old South Korean had eight birdies and the rest pars at The Home Course in Dupont, Washington, to set tournament records for lowest round and lowest two-round total, 134.

SEATTLE (AP) – Alex Bentley scored 22 points and rookie Chiney Ogwumike had 14 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday, helping the Connecticut Sun beat the Seattle Storm 86-63 to snap a three-game skid. Connecticut (10-13) had lost seven of eight. Bentley scored 16 points during the first half. Ogwumike got into double figures for the 20th time in her first 21 games. The double-double was her eighth. Kelsey Bone added 16 points off the bench.
