DUNDEE, Ore. (AP) – Police in the Dundee area southwest of Portland say a highway was temporarily closed and traffic disrupted after a backhoe apparently severed a 2-inch natural gas service line. No one was injured. NW Natural gas company repaired the line and said there was no service interruption to customers.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A jury in Portland has awarded more than $562,000 to a man who said in his lawsuit that city police beat and used a stun gun on him without provocation after stopping him for investigation of drunken driving. Jason Cox testified that he thought he was going to be beaten to death. The city attorney’s office did not immediately return an after-hours call for comment.

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say the Lane County medical examiner has determined that a Eugene man found dead on a road east of Cottage Grove had been lying on the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle. Toxicology tests are pending. The pedestrian found dead has been identified as 39-year-old Reuben James Orr. Police say the driver is cooperating with investigators.

NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Coos County sheriff’s office says a search and rescue dog found a missing 5-year-old autistic boy unharmed but stuck in mud at the bottom of a ravine in a wooded area. KCBY-TV reports that the boy’s family called the sheriff’s office Sunday afternoon to say the child was last seen walking into woods. The sheriff’s office says the boy has been returned to his family.
