BEND, Ore. (AP) – The former co-owner of a Bend gymnastics academy has been found guilty of sexually abusing his former students. The Bend Bulletin reports that Richard Gustafson of Bend was found guilty Friday of 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, 20 counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and one count of possession of cocaine. The 49-year-old Gustafson was arrested in January on suspicion of abusing two girls.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A plan to remove the Mirror Pond dam and redevelop the downtown Bend riverfront has been unveiled. The Bend Bulletin reports the proposal is the latest in a nearly two-year process to address sediment buildup in Mirror Pond. Pacific Power, the owner of the dam, has announced its intention to stop using the dam for power generation.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – State referendums that have legalized medicinal or recreational marijuana have encouraged an electronic cigarette retailer to try to build a national franchise. Voters in Oregon, Alaska and Washington, D.C., approved ballot measures Tuesday for recreational pot use. Chip Paul, CEO and co-founder of Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Palm Beach, says it opens the door to market a method for producing a cannabis oil vapor product.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – A Klamath Falls man has been arrested for allegedly choking his fiancee until she lost consciousness. The Herald and News reports that Thomas Lee Potter was booked into jail on Friday on charges of attempted murder, strangulation and fourth-degree assault. According to Klamath Falls officials, the 54-year-old Potter choked the 45-year-old woman at the River Park Inn.
