BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon highway officials say they have partially reopened Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon after being closed for most of Saturday following a massive crash. Twelve people were injured in the accident involving more than a dozen tractor-trailers. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening. Black ice is believed to be the cause.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is sending $23 million to Washington state for five conservation programs, including work to preserve farmland, help fish runs and prevent soil erosion. The federal money comes from a new program created in the 2014 Farm Bill. One of the projects is work led by Trout Unlimited on the Upper Columbia.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Coquille Indian Tribe’s proposal to build a casino in Medford is taking a step forward as the Bureau of Indian Affairs prepares for an environmental review of the plan. The Mail Tribune reports that the Medford City Council wants a thorough review looking at the casino’s impacts on transportation, public safety and socioeconomic issues.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A wet Saturday broke two records in Portland. With 1.8 inches of rain, Portland set a new record, bypassing the 1.76 inches of rain that fell on the date in 1976. And the 59 degree high temperature on Saturday matched the record set in 1975. The weather service is predicting snow in the Cascades and isolated thunderstorms on the coast.
