SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has declared drought emergencies in three more counties — Crook, Harney, and Klamath — due to low water levels and record low snowpack. Brown declared a drought emergency in Malheur and Lake counties last month. The drought is having significant impacts on agriculture, livestock and natural resources in each of the counties.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — A 29-year-old man who briefly grabbed a child from an Oregon classroom, then set him down and ran off has been sentenced to four years in prison. The Oregonian reports that Joshua Alan Brown pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping. Washington County prosecutors said Brown told police he had used meth and “could have been high.”

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — State Police say two traffic stops on Interstate 5 in southern Oregon have netted 29 pounds of crystal methamphetamine bound from southern California to Washington state. On April 1 a traffic infraction led troopers to 28 pounds of meth in the trunk. Two days later a pound of meth was found in a car during a traffic stop.

WOODBURN, Ore. (AP) — Wherever he’s been, Pete the pet goat is back home in Woodburn. KPTV reports that Pete’s owner says her neighbors found the goat dragging a fence post and blackberry bushes on their property about half a mile away. She had posted an online notice after the 7-year-old pet vanished from her front yard last week.
