Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The Portland Trail Blazers have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs with a 99-93 loss to the Memphis Grizzles last night. The Grizzlies reached the West semifinals for the third time in five years. They will play Game 1 on Sunday at Golden State. The Trail Blazers lost in the first round for the seventh time in their last eight postseasons.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Supreme Court is nearing a decision on the constitutionality of pension cuts for public employees. The court is expected to issue a ruling today that will have massive implications for the budgets of state and local governments. Oregon lawmakers voted in a 2013 special session to reduce benefits.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Senate has killed a bill that would have made it illegal to sit on the floor or on someone’s lap in a moving vehicle. Democratic Sen. Alan Bates of Medford has said he brought the bill because two children sitting in the back of a sport-utility vehicle were killed five years ago when the driver lost control.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland city officials say it could cost $175 million to repair the landmark Portland Building, which houses city offices. The 15-story building cost $25 million when built in 1982. It’s a prominent early example of postmodernism, an architectural movement that features ornament and symbolism. The Oregonian reports workers complain about leaks, moisture and tiny windows.
