PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon winemaker has sued a neighboring farmer, claiming herbicide drifted from the grass-seed field and destroyed one of his grape crops. The Oregonian reports that Willamette Valley Vineyards’ lawsuit filed in Polk County against Five Cent Farm says he lost 12.7 tons of pinot noir grapes. The suit says state agriculture officials investigated and found that herbicide drift had occurred. Five Cent Farm says the officials couldn’t prove where the herbicide came from.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – Springfield Police say a Thurston High School English teacher is under investigation for sending nude photographs of herself to a male student. The Register-Guard reports no charges have been filed against the teacher and she has not been arrested. Police have not named the teacher. The school district said the teacher is no longer employed there.

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – Campers staying at three Siuslaw National Forest campgrounds will be roughing it this weekend. KCST radio reports that park officials found a break in an underground water line serving the campgrounds. That led to the closure of all flush toilets, showers and water faucets.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A Merion County park that had closed after bear sightings reopens today. The Statesman Journal in Salem reports that North Fork County Park near Mehema had closed Tuesday after a work crew spotted a black bear mother and her two cubs. County parks officials say the park pulled garbage cans, and there have been no more sightings since Tuesday.
