Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Milwaukie man has filed a lawsuit claiming the owners of an apartment complex discriminated against him because he owned a pit bull and is black. The Oregonian reports that Lee Davis’s federal lawsuit filed in Portland alleges that he was told his pit bull could not live with him since the Miramonte Lodge apartments have a restricted breed list. Lee gave up his dog and took the unit. But he says once he moved in he discovered several residents who were not African American kept dogs on the list.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The president of Eugene’s NAACP chapter is saying his sister was beaten before being arrested. Eugene-Springfield NAACP president Eric Richardson said his sister was trying to prevent officers from using a Taser on her 19-year-old son. Eugene Police Chief Pete Kerns says the allegations merit review, but disagreed with Richardson’s account.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The University of Oregon has agreed to pay $800,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a student who claimed she was sexually assaulted last year by three basketball players. The unidentified 18-year-old woman has dismissed all claims against the university.

ROOSEVELT, Wash. (AP) – Washington state authorities have evacuated the entire town of Roosevelt because of a wildfire. An estimated 300 people have been evacuated from the town on the banks of the Columbia River across from Arlington, Oregon. The sheriff’s office said early today that the evacuation order was still in effect and that crews had so far been successful in shielding residences.
