PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A small plane crashed shortly after takeoff from an airport in Creswell, south of Eugene yesterday, killing the two people on board. BETHANY, Ore. (AP) – Washington County deputies have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of trying to burglarize a Bethany apartment while the man living there was still inside. KATU-TV reports that deputies were called to a home early yesterday morning, where they found the suspect on the couch. Deputies say they found items in the suspect’s car that appeared to be from stolen vehicles.
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A Prineville man died after he was thrown from a bull and stepped on at the Paulina Amateur Rodeo. The Crook County Sheriff’s Office reports 58-year-old contestant Richard Perry was competing in front of family and friends Saturday afternoon when the incident occurred. Perry’s daughter Bailey told KTVZ-TV that her father died doing what he loved.
MURPHY, Ore. (AP) – Deer destroyed an industrial hemp crop in southern Oregon, breaking through a barbed-wire fence and moving about 1,000 plants down to stubble. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that the owner says they have other plants they can harvest for hemp seed. He says cannabis is high in protein, so he wasn’t surprised that the deer devoured the plants.
