GASTON, Ore. (AP) – A man working at a lumber mill has died after being struck by a train about 30 miles west of Portland. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Stimson Lumber Mill near Gaston yesterday afternoon and found 46-year-old Antonio Avalos of McMinnville dead at the scene. Deputies believe Avalos fell off the front of a slow-moving train while working in the rail yard.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Peet’s Coffee & Tea is buying the popular Portland-based premium coffee company Stumptown Coffee Roasters, bringing the once independent brand more into the mainstream. Stumptown operates 10 stores in Portland, Seattle, New York and Los Angeles and describes itself as a pioneer of the cold-brew coffee movement.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A delivery truck stolen from Southeast Portland has turned up, but the tofu and organic drinks that were inside are missing. Portland police say the delivery truck belonging to Seattle-based R&K Foods was stolen from a parking lot yesterday morning while the driver was inside a grocery store.
