PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The FBI says agents nabbed a suspected bank robber when he showed up at a coffee shop near the bureau’s Portland office. A federal magistrate yesterday ordered that 58-year-old Timmie Lee Smith be jailed following an initial court appearance. The robberies occurred Oct. 7 and 12 in downtown Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal agency has released a road map for the recovery of threatened Oregon Coast coho salmon. The plan from the National Marine Fisheries Service focuses on improving streams. The coho was granted federal protection in 2008.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland’s three previous mayors have endorsed state Treasurer Ted Wheeler in his bid to unseat incumbent Mayor Charlie Hales in next year’s election. Wheeler’s campaign yesterday announced support from Vera Katz, Tom Potter and Sam Adams. The three served as mayors from 1993 until the beginning of 2013.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – An Oregon man and his cousin have been sentenced to prison in connection with a fatal robbery last year in Washington state. The Columbian reports 20-year-old Shawn Fortner of Bend, Oregon and his 23-year-old cousin, Jonathan Hensey, of East Wenatchee, Washington, had both previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and robbery charges.
