PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The state Court of Appeals has kept alive a lawsuit filed by a former MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility employee who says he was wrongfully fired. Tim Hall was let go in 2011 after the Oregon Youth Authority said he filed a false police report. Hall went to police concerned that someone poisoned his bottle of sweetened water. The case returns to Marion County Circuit Court.

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Officials have confirmed that a body found near Zillah in September is that of a 24-year-old Oregon man believed killed earlier this year. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says DNA analysis identified the body as Antonio Hernandez-Ledezma of Boardman, Oregon. The body was found by a hiker.

MADRAS, Ore. (AP) — A hospital in Madras will continue to send mothers to Redmond or Bend for delivery until early 2016 due to a continued shortage of nurses trained in obstetrics. The Bulletin in Bend reports that St. Charles Madras’ CEO says the temporary moratorium was supposed to last one month and end in August, but had to be extended.

OAKRIDGE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon authorities say the massive rock threatening to fall from a cliff onto Highway 58 has now been secured. The Eugene Register Guard reports that a contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation has bolted down the 150-ton rock, which had been separating from the cliff face above the highway east of Oakridge. The $32,000 project was declared a success after strength tests.
