BEND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon authorities are investigating an explosion inside a World War II-era tank that left two people dead. The blast occurred yesterday afternoon at a public gun range east of Bend. Deschutes County Sheriff Shane Nelson tells KTVZ-TV that video was being shot around the time of the explosion, and that could help them learn more about what happened.

ESTACADA, Ore. (AP) – Officials say a bomb threat canceled parent-teacher conferences and will delay the start of schools today in Estacada. Sandy Police said the Clackamas County dispatch center received a report last night that a bomb was placed at Estacada High School. Police searched the school and found nothing suspicious. As a precaution school officials delayed the start of school today by two hours.

DALLAS, Ore. (AP) – Police arrested a man and woman from Oregon accused of holding a woman captive for six weeks. Documents filed this week in Polk County show Ronnie Lee and Irish Boyce are charged with kidnapping and unlawful sexual penetration. Lee has also been charged with rape.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State University is considering purchasing a 46-acre pumice mine to expand its Cascades campus. The Bulletin reports that the university held a panel discussion yesterday with engineering consultants hired to analyze the site. OSU-Cascades is interested in purchasing the pumice mine as part of its plan to accommodate 5,000 students.
