PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Alaska Airlines says the computer issues that delayed about 20 flights are being resolved. The airline said there could still be some delays during the early-morning hours, but no flight cancelations are expected. Alaska Airlines travelers at the Portland airport said they were told their flights were delayed as a result of a system-wide technical glitch. Some travelers in Portland found places to stretch out and doze off.

DALLAS, Ore. (AP) – The Pole County Commission has appointed Sgt. Mark Garton as the next sheriff. The Statesman Journal reports that Garton will take the position when Sheriff Bob Wolfe retires Nov. 31. Garton will serve as interim sheriff until January 2017 when a newly-elected sheriff will take office.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – Three men have been charged with a shooting incident at their former middle school in Bend earlier this month. The Bend Bulletin reports James Morris, Samuel Brooks and Alexandre Brooks were arrested following an investigation into shots being fired at Cascade Middle School. Two maintenance employees had been inside the school when the shots rang out.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon sheriff’s deputy has sued the Elmer’s restaurant chain, claiming he was told to prepay for his meal at a Vancouver establishment because he is black. KGW-TV reports Brian Eason’s lawsuit says he went to the restaurant last December and was asked by a waitress to prepay for his meal. Eason claims white customers in the restaurant weren’t required to pay upfront for their meals. The chain says it doesn’t have a policy requiring guests to prepay for their meals.
