PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Washington County jury has found a woman guilty of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy. The Oregonian reports that 22-year-old Melissa Chacon of Cornelius was scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 25. Court records say Hillsboro police began investigating Chacon after the victim disclosed the abuse to his mother.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A mother and son are facing charges after Eugene police recovered eight firearms stolen in a gun store burglary. The Register-Guard reports Trina Carney was arrested on suspicion of theft, felon in possession of a weapon and a drug charge. Her son, 21-year-old Devon Carney, is facing theft and burglary charges. A third person, Jasson Ray, has also been linked to the guns stolen on Dec. 2.
ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – One of two inmates who authorities say tried to escape from Clatsop County Jail has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison. The Daily Astorian reports that Anthony Osborne of Seaside and another inmate tried to leave the prison by breaking a shower drain grate, tying it to a bedsheet and banging it against a window until the window shattered. Officers heard the commotion and detained the inmates.
CLEVELAND (AP) – LeBron James scored 33 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 105-100 last night. Damian Lillard scored 33 points to lead Portland, which appeared to run out of gas as Cleveland came back in the second half. C.J. McCollum added 24 points for the Trail Blazers.
