Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland woman who was struck by a drunken driver while in a crosswalk has filed a lawsuit seeking $4,600 for the designer clothes she was wearing at the time in addition to the price of her medical bills. The Oregonian reports that Susan Layne says in her lawsuit that the crash left her with bruises, scratches and pains, as well as a destroyed Chanel handbag, Prada boots and Burberry trench coat.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The city of Medford has been cleared in a wrongful death case involving an 18-year-old man who police say was brandishing a knife when he was fatally shot by officers. The Mail Tribune reports the mother of Elias Angel Ruiz had sought $2 million from the city in her son’s death. A jury determined last week that the city was not negligent in the 2012 shooting.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An elephant at the Oregon Zoo has been euthanized following a decades-old leg injury that had impaired his mobility. KATU-TV reports that the Asian elephant named Tusko was put down yesterday. Zoo officials say the past few days had been rough for Tusko, as he was no longer able to put weight on one of his limbs, often laying down and had trouble getting back up. Tusko was born in Thailand more than 40 years ago. He’s the father of two elephants at the zoo, Samudra and Lily.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) – Jaylin Arlington scored 15 points with three 3-pointers and CS Bakersfield beat Portland State 78-66 last night, handing the Vikings their fifth straight loss. Portland State closed within 48-44 early in the second half. But the Roadrunners pulled away on a 15-4 run. Cameron Forte led Portland State with 14 points.
