BURNS, Ore. (AP) – The FBI and Oregon State Police say they’ve arrested three more people connected to the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Men from Oregon, Utah and Georgia were arrested after they turned themselves in to agents at a checkpoint near the refuge.
BURNS, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man who was on his way to California tells a Portland television station that he witnessed gunfire between authorities and the armed group who had been occupying a national wildlife refuge. Raymond Doherty, of Pilot Rock, told KOIN-TV he heard about a half-dozen shots but didn’t see anyone get hit.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Court of Appeals has upheld a $439,000 award to a bicyclist who broke his hip after riding on wet pavement at a Portland car wash. The Oregonian reports that the appeals court ruled in favor of John Currier, determining that the Washman car wash had a duty to keep its pavement safe.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Lane County grand jury has returned a 23-count indictment against a Eugene man accused of molesting a female relative. The Register-Guard reports 61-year-old Richard Jackson pleaded not guilty to all charges yesterday. The relative is now 22 and has filed a $9 million lawsuit against Jackson and his ex-wife.
