PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Multnomah County authorities have recovered a body from the Willamette River in Portland. Sheriff’s deputies pulled the body from the water yesterday afternoon. An identity has not yet been released. The body was spotted by two fishermen near a wing dam by Cathedral Park.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -The jailed leader of the armed Oregon standoff is calling on elected officials to support those charged in connection with taking over a national wildlife preserve. Ammon Bundy says in an audio recording released yesterday that he’s urging officials in the eight states the defendants are from to visit them in jail to show their support. The defendants hail from Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Ohio and Washington.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Attorney General Loretta Lynch tells The Associated Press she’s visiting six cities starting this week to highlight police departments that she says can serve as role models for law enforcement. Portland is among the cities. Lynch said these upcoming sites were picked because they embody a particular successful quality of policing, such as effective use of data.
JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – Insurance regulators say they have lifted the suspension of an Oregon-based company to again offer health insurance policies in Alaska and Oregon. The Alaska Division of Insurance and the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services say they’ve reached an agreement with Moda Health Plan Inc. Both states late last month suspended Moda from accepting new or renewal policies, citing concerns with the company’s financial situation.
