Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Two marijuana-related bills that would ease some worries for banks and also change the way Oregonians buy and sell pot have gained momentum at the Capitol. One measure would allow recreational dispensaries to sell medical pot to patients tax-free. Another marijuana proposal would exempt banks from state criminal liability for doing business with the pot industry.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – Officials say a Seaside police officer was justified in killing a man who had shot his patrol partner. The Clatsop County District Attorney says Sgt. Jason Goodding was shot underneath his ballistic vest Feb. 5 by Phillip Ferry as Goodding tried to arrest him on a felony warrant. After Goodding was shot, Officer David Davidson fired at Ferry, hitting him in the hand, arm and buttocks.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A former Alaska Airlines pilot has pleaded not guilty to flying a jetliner while drunk. City News Service says David Arntson is free on bond and could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors say the 60-year-old Newport Beach, California, man was legally under the influence when he piloted one flight from San Diego to Portland, Oregon, and another from Portland to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.

BLY, Ore. (AP) – A classical musician from St. Paul, Minnesota, has been charged with having more than 100 pounds of marijuana in his car in south central Oregon. Oregon State Police say they arrested 33-year-old David Huckaby near Bly, Oregon, after pulling him over for speeding. Huckaby joined the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra as a cellist in 2009. He left the orchestra in 2013. His attorney was not available for comment.
