Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Nearly a fourth of Oregon’s medical marijuana dispensaries selling the drug recreationally are not registered to pay taxes on those sales. The Register-Guard reports dispensaries have until Feb. 29 to pay a 25 percent sales tax on January recreational marijuana sales. Many medical marijuana dispensaries are temporarily selling the drug for recreational use. Licenses for those looking to sell recreational marijuana alone will not be issued until the fall.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon U.S. Attorney’s Office says an Ashland man was sentenced to two years in prison for laundering the money he made from selling marijuana. Judge Ann Aiken sentenced Jonathan Quaccia last week. She also ordered him to serve three years of supervised release once he’s out.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Pacific Northwest could become a major hub for methanol production if three proposed refineries are built along the Columbia River and Puget Sound. A China-backed consortium has proposed two plants in Washington and a third in Oregon to convert natural gas to methanol, which would be shipped to China to make plastics. But those plans are running into opposition. The company has temporarily put its Tacoma project on hold, citing vocal opposition.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – C.J. McCollum scored 31 points, including two clinching free throws with 2.7 seconds left, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Utah Jazz 115-111 last night. Damian Lillard had 30 points and five assists for Portland, which has won 14 of 17 overall. Reserve Maurice Harkless scored 17 points, and Ed Davis had 11 on 4-for-4 shooting.
