Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Gov. Kate Brown has signed a bill that upholds a decision to remove the gray wolf from Oregon’s endangered species list. The measure was one of the most contentious this year because it was drafted in hopes of blocking an ongoing lawsuit filed by environmentalists, who want to challenge the merits of the delisting decision through judicial review.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s ballot won’t include a measure that would end daylight saving time after a petition drive failed to collect enough signatures. The Capital Press reports that Medford resident David Miles hoped to abolish the tradition by 2018. He says his 20 volunteers were unable to gather the 117,578 signatures required to get the measure on the November ballot. He says they had about 1,000 signatures as of Sunday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s jobless rate dropped to 4.8 percent in February, its lowest level in more than 20 years. The state Employment Department says Oregon gained 4,300 jobs last month, led by construction. That pushed the unemployment rate down from 5.1 percent in January – to a mark last seen in April 1995. The unemployment rate at this time last year was 5.8 percent.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – A nurse who sued New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and state health officials after she was quarantined at a hospital because she had contact with Ebola patients in West Africa is asking a judge not to throw out the lawsuit. Attorneys for Kaci Hickox responded to the government’s attempt in January to have the federal civil rights lawsuit tossed. Hickox, who now lives in Oregon, says her constitutional rights against unlawful seizure, unnecessary restraints and due process were violated.
