GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) — Gresham Police say 2 girls were seriously hurt when they were struck by a floral delivery van while walking home from school. Officer John Rasmussen says the girls were in a marked crosswalk and had ‘walk’ sign. Police believe the 44-year-old woman driving the van went through a red light. The girls were taken to area hospitals; 1 was in critical condition.

BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts native who has tracked lions in the African bush and gathered wild plants to eat to slow the onset of multiple sclerosis leads the cast of a new History Channel reality show. Nicole Apelian (uh-PEHL’-ee-uhn) appears in Season 2 of “Alone,” which premieres Thursday. Apelian now lives in Portland, Oregon, and says she hopes her experience on the show will inspire others to push themselves.

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a toddler has been taken to a hospital after falling out of a third-story window at a home in Happy Valley. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that emergency personnel responded Wednesday evening to a report of a 2-year-old who had tumbled out of a window.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The city of Portland has agreed to pay $5,000 to a former Portland Fire & Rescue manager who accused then-fire Chief Erin Janssens of grabbing him by the neck. The Oregonian reports that as part of the settlement signed in February, Brian Alcid has agreed to drop the nearly $48,000 lawsuit he filed against Janssens in October.
