PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Damian Lillard scored 27 points and the Portland Trail Blazers handed the Charlotte Hornets their fifth straight loss with a 115-98 victory last night. Allan Crabbe added 21 points off the bench for the Blazers, who have won four of their last five games. Maurice Harkless dunked with 9:37 left in the game to give Portland a 94-72 lead and the Bobcats never challenged down the stretch.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have signed left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. Seattle completed the signing of the left-hander yesterday. Hagadone becomes the 23rd invite to spring training by the Mariners. Hagadone has not pitched in the majors since the middle of the 2015 season before back and elbow troubles landed him on the disabled list.

NEW YORK (AP) —St. Louis and San Diego are among bidders from 12 areas applying for four Major League Soccer expansion teams. Two of the teams, which have $150 million expansion fees, will start play in 2020. MLS Commissioner Don Garber said Tuesday that having stadium financing in place is a condition for selection. The expansion committee will start to review applications in February.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is trying to figure out its next move after a plan to increase hunting and fishing fees for the first time in roughly 13 years got shot down. Spokesman Mike Keckler said yesterday that the agency’s director and the Idaho Fish and Game Commission are working on possible alternatives.
