Keep Your Holiday Safe

While you are celebrating this weekend the Red Cross asks that you be extremely careful with fire.  Since June 1st the Red Cross has helped 256 people displaced by fire in 56 separate incidents.  When dealing with personal fireworks remember to always read the packages for safety instructions, never hand fireworks to a child, and never point fireworks at people, structures, or animals, and veber try t o relight a dud.  Always keep a bucke of water handy, too.  The Red Cross also cautions care when it comes to grilling.  Never grill indoors, in a tent or camper, never leave a fire unattended, and keep children and pets away from the grilling area.  They also caution grilling under a tree.  And lastly, long weekends are often great times to go hiking and it is always recommended that you tell friends and family where you are planning to hike and how long you will be gone.  And always take a first aid kit and plenty of water or sport drinks with electrolytes and be aware of the weather forecasts.
