NWL All-Stars Win; Ducks Prep for Season

All Stars Play

The Northwest League came out victorious in last night’s minor league all star game.  The pioneer league came out strong in the second inning scoring all of their 4 runs with a string of singles. And it wasn’t until the bottom of the fifth when the home team struck back scoring their 5 runs with a Double, 2 singles and a pair of walks.  Final score 5-4.  No game this evening for the Emeralds, but they’re back on the road tomorrow in Spokane for a 5 game stand against the Indians.

Taggart Says ‘Embrace the Suck’

The Ducks were out in the heat in Eugene yesterday and Coach Willie Taggart told his players that camp sucks and the need to ‘embrace the suck.’  He says he is seeing a lot of good things from this players especially their desire to play

“They play with a lot of passion, was flying around and having fun and that’s how we want to play football around here.”

Taggart says they have some work to do including trimming down some players.  He said everyone looks like an all-star when it’s just helmets.  The real players come out when the pads come on.
