Emeralds Tied in Playoffs; Vikings Offense Working; Lady Viks Tough But Fall Short; Ducks Hold On To Lead; Beavers Defense Fails

Emeralds Even Up Score

The Emeralds are all tied up in their 5 game series against Vancouver.  After a 7-5 loss on Saturday the Ems bounced back last night for their final home game of the season.  They took a 3 nothing lead in the first on an Austin Filiere 2 run home run and that set the tone for the night.  The Canadians came back with two runs in the second, but that was all the offense they could generate.  The Ems added a security run in the bottom of the 5th.  The series continues with the Canadians in Vancouver this evening at 7:05

Vikings Show Some Offense

The Siuslaw Vikings hosted the Pleasant Hill Hillbillies on Friday night.  The Vikings mounted some offense in the first half scoring 2  touchdowns yet missing both point after attempts.  The first half ended though with the billies in the lead 13-12.  The Vikings scored once more in the third quarter on a pass from Brandt to Reavis.  But the billies offense continued to move the ball against the Viking defense racking up another 32 points in the second half.  Final Score 45-18.  The Vikings are 0 and 2 on the season and travel to Newport this Friday.

Mapleton fell to Elkton on Friday evening 40 to 12 in a non-league matchup.

Lady Viks Play Tough

The Lady Vikings had a tough outing at the Canby Tournament on Saturday.  The Vikings fought tough but lost both sets 26-24 and 25-23.

Ducks Shoot Out of First Half Canon

Oregon Ducks took control of the first half on Saturday at home against the Nebraska Corn huskers.  Leading 42 to 14 at the end of the second quarter, but the Cornhuskeers kicked it into gear scoring 2 quick touchdowns to start the 3rd quarter.  The Ducks wouldn’t find the endzone again in the game and Nebraska scored once more and got close to tying the game, but the Duck Defense held on and the game ended 42-35 Ducks.  The Ducks head to Wyoming for this Saturday’s matchup.

Beavers Defense Can’t Hold Off Golden Dolphers

The Beavers were not as lucky as the ducks.  They faced the Minnesota Golden Golphers and went into the half only trailing by 6  with the score 20 -14.  The Golden Golphers scored another 28 in the second half to take the game 48-14.  Beavers head to Washington State this Saturday.
